Hams and Pianos

I’ve been a bit busy the past couple weeks. With school and courses. I’m just trying to fit this in before my next class starts in 15 minutes.

Ham Radio

Like stated in my last post I took the Ham Radio Technicians exam. I blew through the exam in about 5 minutes and passed pretty easily. The only test takers were me and an older guy. I was pretty surprised when I attended the testing center. I was the youngest person there and I’m pretty sure everyone else was at least in their 40s. Nothing wrong with this but it just means, ham radio is a hobby from an older generation. Anyways, after about 10 days I received my Call sign from the FCC. If you want to find it will be listed on my contact page. I made my first contact while spending time with family on my spring break. A student from Georgia Tech that I met online connected to a repeater near me and we tried communicating. Unfortunately due to distance It was quite difficult to hear him so I wouldn’t count that as a successful contact. however, I did make a successful contact later that same week while running some errands. The other Ham expressed his encouragement in young people getting into amateur radio. The Radio that I purchased what the one he got when he first started and the same one he gave to his son. Overall I’m pretty happy that I got into this hobby and I cant wait to make more contacts.

Piano

I also recently became infatuated in the idea of playing piano. school has become a bit stressful and I would like something instead of video games to relax myself. I found someone locally selling a Yamaha for a pretty affordable price and I plan on meeting with them on campus to buy it. I also bought a piano course from Udemy on sale. It has over 10 hours of instructional videos and about 200 pages worth of comprehensive and easy to learn material. I cant wait to begin to play some of my favorite songs. for myself and others. I hope in my next post I will be able to share some of what I accomplished with this and I might even play a song.

Due to course load and midterm exams approaching it is not likely that I will be posting as often. I will try to make an effort to post at least once every week or two but I cant make any promises. I’ll continue to do my best and work towards my goals. It will be a long journey but I have a great passion and determination to meet them. Until next time, Stay Teckie!
